Description

A project for the configuration and launch of new voice and data systems on two oil rigs.

The project

CLIENT CHALLENGE

PEMEX (Petróleos Mexicanos) is a state-owned producer, transporter, refiner, and seller of oil and natural gas in Mexico. The company was looking to implement and configure improved connectivity systems (voice and data) on two of its oil rigs, and to ensure reliable service that would not lead to communication losses.

SOLUTION

Wellness TechGroup was faced with the combined challenge of a tight deadline, unfamiliarity with the state of existing systems, and the pressure of knowing that a previous company had been unable to complete the project. An offshore service was offered, installing a Multiservice IP network for both rigs. A highly qualified team was able to install and configure voice and data equipment, with the help of CISCO communications equipment, through which voice connectivity was provided, with Call Manager technology and data connected to the mainland via underwater fiber cables.

In the final phase of the project, all system tests were carried out with PEMEX engineers and found no irregularities.

RESULTS

  • The WTG team was able to integrate CISCO’s multiservice telephone system, allowing for connectivity on the rigs via underwater fiber cables.
  • The consolidation of the communications infrastructure: IP phone, high definition video, unified messaging, instant messaging and presence, etc. in a remote and complex environment.
