The project

STARPORTS proposes the implementation of a network of sensors in the structural elements of maritime barriers, in order to better understand the state of these barriers and to take action before the problem worsens and produces further damage. Despite the existence of technologies that make the project viable, said technology must be adapted to the specifications of the proposed system. The environment in question is highly hostile, difficult to access and presents potential problems with wireless coverage.

Consortium: FCC, Wellness TechGroup, SensorLab.

WTG'S OBJECTIVES

  • The main objective of the STARPORTS project is the development of an intelligent platform capable of providing detailed, real-time information on the state of any coastal and maritime infrastructure.
  • The ability to automatically and intelligently quantify changes over time, such as pathologies or other anomalies.
  • Intended to develop advanced networks of sensors that can be integrated into the infrastructure and obtain significant and reliable data on its status.

WTG'S ROLE

  • Design and develop a hub to serve as a centre for data sent by the sensors via a wireless interface, with sufficient processing capacity and a high bandwidth interface with the Cloud.
  • Design a scalable and modular network architecture.
